Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week Events

Hi all!

As you may know, last week was teacher and staff appreciation week. Thanks to your generous donations we were able to surprise the teachers with the following:

  • Wednesday – Basket of fruit and snacks
  • Thursday – Poi malasadas from Kamehameha Bakery, scones and lemon/lilikoi/guava bars from Sconees, and Starbucks coffee
  • Friday – Bentos from Nippon Restaurant

All teachers and staff expressed their appreciation to the PTO board and also to all of the KMS parents and school community! Your support of our KMS workers has made this challenging year much more bearable!

And a BIG thank you goes out to YOU for making this all possible! We are humbled by your love and support of the school! Please click the following link to see some pictures of this past week: https://photos.app.goo.gl/zrYvVXTgrrhSfL1d7

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week

Hi KMS Ohana!

Thank you all so much for the generous donations for Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week (which is this week)! We wanted to let you know that we took in over $1,400 in donations and we are floored with the generosity of our KMS family! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

All the money received will be used for treats and goodies for the KMS faculty and staff. We will share the items purchased with you next week since it is under wraps and we are certain that the KMS faculty and staff will appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness!

Thank you again!

Taste of Kaimuki cancellation

Dear Kaimuki Middle School Ohana,

As the COVID-19 outbreak continues to spread in the US, many educational institutions are cancelling extracurricular activities to prevent the spread of the virus. As of this letter, Hawaii has confirmed two cases of the COVID-19 infection on Oahu and KMS PTO is taking precautionary health measures to protect our Ohana and the community, by cancelling the Taste of Kaimuki Middle School event scheduled for Friday, March 27.  Our decision to cancel this event was made after careful evaluation of the current COVID-19 situation and actions that would need to be in place to reduce the risk of transmission.  Based on these considerations, we recognized that we would not be able to provide an event that guaranteed the safety of our Ohana, community members and food vendors, entertainers and volunteers.

We would like to send a big MAHALO to the KMS families and staff who were so generous and enthusiastic about answering the call to help with donations of ideas, time, beverages, equipment, supplies and funds to make this event a success.  As we continue to monitor the situation, please know that we are continuously brainstorming ways to make up for this event by providing other opportunities to celebrate the great things about KMS. With regards to the drinks that were donated, we would like to let you know they will be used to benefit the students at KMS.  However, if you would prefer that we return your donation, please contact us at kmspto.org/contact-us, to make arrangements to  pick-up from the school. To those who have generously loaned us your coolers, please stop by the front office between 7:30AM – 4:00PM during spring break to pick up your item.

In celebration of KMS’s 80th anniversary, we created a commemorative shirt and hoodie that will be available to the KMS Ohana and community.  You may purchase these items at the KMS PTO Store, kmspto.org/store.  First distribution of shirts and hoodies is expected on Friday, March 27.  We are happy to let you know that the shirts and hoodies have been approved to wear to school on any day of the week, but only have limited quantities, so order yours today!  The profits from the sales of the shirts and hoodies will be used to support programs and events at KMS.

We thank you for your support and understanding.  Please feel free to contact us via email at kmspto.org/contact-us, if you have any concerns, questions or suggestions.

Be safe and stay well!

Mahalo for your time and support,

KMS PTO Board

Thank you for your drink donations!

The generosity shown by our KMS ‘Ohana is overwhelming! The KMS PTO and KMS school faculty/staff want to thank you so much for the donations that “poured” in Tuesday and today! We can’t thank you enough!

Any guesses as to how many drinks we have on hand?

If you missed out on your chance to donate drinks, don’t worry! Within the next week, we will have an online sign up sheet to look for volunteers to assist us with setup, manning, and breakdown of the “Taste of Kaimuki” event which will take place on Friday, Mar. 27th!

Thank you again and have a great week!

Drink Donations Please!

Last year marked Kaimuki Middle’s 80th Anniversary! To celebrate this event, the school and PTO will be putting on “A Taste of Kaimuki” event on Friday, Mar. 27th from 3:00PM – 7:00PM.  This event will feature food and entertainment in a festive atmosphere. We are finalizing the list of vendors, but they do include Square Barrels, Oahu Grill, Ono Seafood and many more….We are also selling specially printed shirts for this occasion.

Along with the celebration, we are making it a small fundraiser.  The vendors are being charged a flat fee and we are requesting drink donations so that we can sell them at the event.  The profits from the event will help fund school events and programs.

If you are able to help, please go to Sign-Up Genius and specify what drinks you’d be able to donate:

Drink donation drop-off will take place on Tuesday, Mar. 3 and Wednesday, Mar. 4 from 7:00AM – 8:00AM.  When you drop off your child, there will be volunteers on hand to assist with picking up the donations from your vehicle. If you aren’t able to drop off during those dates, please reach out to us here: https://kmspto.org/contact-us/

Thank you for your support and consideration!
